HEALTH TALK

The Link Between Diet and Inflammation

When the body detects danger, it sends out antibodies and proteins that help fight off the cause of the danger, such as excessive pollen during spring or a splinter poking through the skin. This is called the inflammatory response. While helpful for short-term cases, chronic inflammation leads to common health concerns like fatigue, digestive issues, and joint pain. In this health talk session, participants will study the connection between inflammation and diet choices. Attendees will leave the session with actionable steps for making lasting lifestyle changes regarding nutrition.

Nutrition for Kids vs. Adults

When cooking for the family, it’s easier to prepare the same snacks and meals for everyone. However, children have different nutritional needs than adults, especially between the ages of 1 to 5 years old. In this health talk session, participating parents will learn how to accommodate kids’ diets to support healthy growth and development. For instance, toddlers need about 30 to 35 percent of their calories from fat, while adults only need about 5 percent. Become more confident about providing the proper nutrients and vitamins for the whole family.
